The Feast of the Immaculate Heart.

A mammoth crowd gathered at St Anthony Mary Claret Parish ‘Area A’ New Owerri for the annual celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This event took place on the 24th day of June 2017. The celebrations began with the Novena in all the Claretian communities and parishes.

During the Homily, the Provincial Superior, Very Rev Fr Simeon Nwobi, cmf, invited all to imitate Mary’s heart which was sacred, holy, pure and uncontaminated; a heart that is ready and open to comply with the will of God and God’s plan for humanity. Mary, the first follower of Christ, was available without reservation to doing God’s will – that is the ‘Fiat’ of Mary. We rely on her intercession to forge us into what wants us to do.

The highpoints of this year’s celebrations were the launching of the book- Pilgrims with Mary and the commissioning of the Claret Water Annex.

The book edited by the Assistant Director of the Immaculate Heart Secretariat Rev Fr Emmanuel Ukata, CMF, is a compilation of talks, articles and homilies delivered over the years during the feast of the Immaculate Heart. The book is an invaluable reference book and a source of inspiration and food for prayerful reflections. Pilgrims with Mary is a collective fruit of true devotion to our Mother Mary.

The Claret Water Annex was commissioned by the General Prefect of Apostolate Fr. Artur Teixeira,CMF after the Eucharistic Celebrations.

On a lighter note, there were cultural displays, drama by the students of the Claret Schools and other mission schools that were invited for the occasion
