YOUTH AND CHILDREN BIBLE CAMP 2026

by cmf
From the 7th – 11th April, 2026, the Prefecture of Bible and Communications, in collaboration with the Prefecture of Youth and Vocations Ministry, East Nigeria Province, successfully organized a five-day Bible camp for youth and students drawn from our parishes and Claret Academies and primary schools. This initiative was conceived as a means of deepening the participants’ knowledge of Sacred Scripture, fostering spiritual growth, and strengthening their commitment to Christian values in the course of their lives.
The camp centered on a focused and systematic study of the Book of Daniel, specifically chapters 1–6. Throughout the five days, participants were guided through the historical context, key themes, and enduring lessons found within these passages. Emphasis was placed on faithfulness in the face of adversity, courage in witnessing to one’s beliefs, and the importance of integrity in daily living. These lessons were not only taught theoretically but were also made practical and relatable through various interactive sessions.
To enhance effective learning and participation, the participants were divided into five groups. Each group provided a space for more personalized engagement, allowing them to actively contribute to discussions, ask questions, and share insights. The group structure also encouraged teamwork, mutual respect, and the development of leadership skills among the youth.
One of the most enriching aspects of the camp was the use of diverse teaching methods. In addition to structured lessons, participants engaged in group discussions where they reflected on the book of Daniel and applied its lessons to contemporary life situations. Drama presentations were also a key feature of the program. These dramatizations allowed the young people to creatively interpret biblical events, making the stories more vivid and memorable while reinforcing the moral lessons embedded within them.
A significant highlight of the camp was the online session facilitated by Very Rev. Fr. Henry Omonisaye, CMF, the General Prefect of Bible Ministry and Communications of the Congregation. His presentation offered deeper insights into the significance of the Word of God for the mission of the Claretians worldwide. His contribution added great value to the overall experience of the camp.
The camp was further enriched by the physical presence and interventions of the Provincial Superior, VRF Nathaniel Eke, CMF, who celebrated the opening mass and officially welcomed the participants to the camp. We are also indebted to Rev. Fr. Wence Isidienu, CMF, the Provincial Prefect of Apostolate, whose interaction with the participants was both enlightening and motivating. In addition, the visit of the philosophy students from the Claretian Institute of Philosophy, Nekede, created an atmosphere of interactive engagement and mentorship. Their involvement encouraged the participants to think more critically about their faith and to aspire toward higher levels of biblical and spiritual formation.
Beyond the spiritual activities, the camp also provided opportunities for building friendships and fostering a sense of community among the participants. Moments of shared prayer, informal interactions, and collaborative activities helped to create a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone felt included and valued.
We express our profound gratitude to the parents and guardians who entrusted us with their children during this period. Their support and encouragement made it possible for the young people to benefit fully from this experience. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the parish priests and school administrators who collaborated with us in promoting the camp. Their partnership was instrumental in ensuring the success of this initiative.
Special recognition is given to all facilitators, coordinators, and volunteers whose dedication, time, and effort contributed to the smooth running of the program. Their commitment to the biblical and spiritual formation of the youth is truly commendable.
In conclusion, the five-day Bible camp has proven to be a fruitful and impactful initiative. It has not only deepened the participants’ understanding of the Word of God but has also strengthened their faith and inspired them to live out the values they have learned. The province is indeed highly enriched by this gesture, and we look forward to organizing more programs of this nature in the future for the continued growth and development of our young people.
