First Ghanaian Claretian of the East Nigeria Province Ordained a Priest
Today 20th July 2019, the first Ghanaian Claretian of the East Nigeria Province was ordained a priest. Rev Leka-Ire Henry Mario,CMF was born in Techiman Municipal in the now Bono East Region in Ghana. After his primary and secondary education, he was admitted into the Congregation as a postulant in 2008. He had his novitiate, philosophy and theology studies in Nigeria.
The ordination took place at the Holy Family Catholic Church Kenten Techiman Bono East Ghana by the Most Rev Dominic Yeboah, bishop of Techiman Diocese. Concelebrating with him at the Mass was Bishop Wilfred Anagbe,CMF the bishop of Makurdi Diocese, in Nigeria and Fr Simeon Nwobi,CMF the Provincial Superior of the East Nigeria Province. Present at the Mass were the Claretian missionaries working in Ghana, diocesan priests, the religious and lay faithful.
The Claretian mission in Ghana since late 1990s has been solidified and made permanent. Our mission started in the North Tamale Ecclesiastical Province where Rev Henry Leka Ire hails from.
