INAUGURATION OF AFRICAN INSTITUTE OF CONSECRATED LIFE, ABUJA (AICLA)
The long-awaited cherished dream of the Claretian Missionaries in Africa of having an Institute of Consecrated Life has finally been realized today. Indeed a great work has begun in the church for the consecrated persons, lay faithful, and for the Claretian Missionaries, especially in Africa. The event started with the celebration of the Holy Mass presided by the Nuncio, His Excellency, Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi. The archbishop of Benin, Most Rev. Augustine O Akubueze, President of the Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) also graced the event with his presence as well as Bishops, Wilfred Anagbe, CMF of Makurdi Diocese and Hilary Dachelem, CMF of Bauchi diocese and other Claretian confreres and consecrated persons. Also, the traditional leaders and local chiefs where the institute is located were all present.
After the Eucharistic Celebration, the archbishop of Benin, Most Rev. Augustine O Akubueze blessed and opened the new administrative block, while the Nuncio, Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi, blessed and opened the hostel. Bishop Anagbe Wilfred, CMF, on the other hand, Blessed and unveiled the statue of our father founder, St Anthony Mary Claret caved out beautifully at the centre of the Institute.
We pray that this great work that the Lord started in the life of the Claretian Missionaries in Africa and the church at large today, will continue to empower and accompany Consecrated persons in the Church for a greater understanding of the message of the gospel. Amen
